Valerie J. Bogart has been Director of the Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program at Selfhelp Community Services, Inc. since June 2002. Selfhelp is a non-profit organization started in 1936 to help people fleeing Nazi Germany. Now it provides housing, case management, senior center, and home care services for 18,000 seniors each year, including 4000 victims of Nazi persecution. The Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program represents Selfhel'¿s clients and trains its social workers. Before coming to Selfhelp, Ms. Bogart was a senior attorney with Legal Services for the Elderly in New York City for twelve years, specializing in law reform litigation, training and policy in Medicaid and access to long-term home care services. A graduate of the New York University School of Law, she has lectured extensively for both legal and social services organizations, and has taught adjunct courses at CUNY and Fordham law schools.
