Dr. Jon L. Roberts practices in security clearance law, export compliance issues, copyright, trademarks, and litigation related to these areas. He is extensively involved in qualifying personnel for security clearances, helping companies deal with Foreign Ownership Control and Influence (FOCI) matters and compliance with Defense Security Service requirements. Dr. Roberts also provides support to other law firms whose clients have these needs.

Dr. Roberts possesses active Security Clearances and regularly represents clients before the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA) and other intelligence agency Administrative Boards regarding security clearances at all levels. Dr. Roberts negotiates with senior-level officials of U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, Treasury, and Defense regarding export applications and licenses. He also interacts with senior-level officials of the Department of Justice and Office of U.S. Trade Representative to enforce client rights.

Dr. Roberts has extensive corporate and government agency experience. He was the senior staff scientist and project director of a large government system integration project and discharged the responsibilities of principal research scientist in applications of artificial intelligence with General Electric Company, Space Systems Division. His varied government agency experience includes managing numerous research efforts in the areas of software and hardware development, imaging systems, and mapping, high-performance aircraft sensor system operator; image exploitation software development program manager; and interagency work related to remote sensing.
