With corporate governance coming under the microscope all over, General Counsel need to ensure they have a handle on their responsibilities to their company and as a leader in the organization. There is a balance between providing advice and mitigating risk. In addition, General Counsel in today's environment must deal with increased scrutiny from not only the board but also the media and government.

Lisa Murphy

SVP & Deputy General Counsel

Lisa T. Murphy is Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Cambia Health Solutions, Inc. She has spent her 25+ year legal career supporting the legal needs of BlueCross BlueShield companies. In her current role, Lisa provides strategic counsel to her business clients, helping them innovate and adapt to achieve Cambia’s mission to transform the healthcare industry by creating a consumer-focused, economically sustainable health care system – all while staying within the confines of the law. She manages Cambia’s corporate legal services team and leads its corporate governance function.

Prior to joining Cambia in 2003, Lisa was a partner with the Washington, D.C. firm Miller & Chevalier Chartered. She also served as in-house counsel for BCBSA in its Washington, D.C. office. Lisa has served on numerous non-profit boards and is a past chair of the Oregon State Board of Bar Examiners. Lisa frequently speaks on legal issues relating to the health insurance industry and in-house law department management.

Lisa earned her law degree in 1993 from Cornell Law School, cum laude, and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1989, cum laude, with a B.S. in Political Science. A native Oregonian, Lisa lives in the Seattle area with her husband and three sons. Although Lisa’s passion truly is her work, she’s happy to share her opinions on raising teenagers, why dystopian stories are the perfect escape mechanism, and strategies for enjoying a visit to Disney World.

Wendy King

Senior Managing Director, Technology
FTI Consulting

Wendy King is a Senior Managing Director in the Discovery practice within the Technology segment at FTI Consulting. She is based in Atlanta. Ms. King brings more than 15 years of experience in e-discovery practice support.

She focuses on helping law firms understand the costs and resources involved with e-discovery software and how to implement tools in ways that enable best practices and cost savings. She is adept at finding the most efficient use of litigation technology and leverages her expertise across the spectrum of e-discovery and knowledge management solutions to ensure proper training and implementation programs. Having advised corporations and law firms through investigations, complex multi-jurisdictional litigation and regulatory inquiries, Ms. King understands the importance of delivering exemplary client service.

Previously, Ms. King was Director of Products for Kroll Ontrack, where she led the global offering of Relativity, including the development of two Relativity Innovation Award-recognized solutions and an industry-recognized Relativity certification training program.
In addition, she was Director of Practice Services for Am Law 100 firms, including Alston & Bird and Seyfarth Shaw, guiding the firms’ application of technology to the practice of law.

She also spent two years at kCura. Ms. King holds a B.A. in Business Management from DePaul University.

Erin Abrams

Erin Abrams is the General Counsel at Via Transportation, Inc., a technology startup in the on-demand shared ride space. As the Head of the Legal, Risk and Compliance teams at Via, Erin’s portfolio covers corporate transactions, venture-backed financing, insurance, cybersecurity and data privacy, technology licensing, commercial agreements, transportation regulatory and licensing issues, employee and independent contractor matters and litigation. Erin also manages Via’s patent portfolio and oversees Risk, Insurance and Compliance functions at Via.

Prior to joining Via, Erin was a Senior Vice President in the Compliance Department of Citigroup in New York, where her group was tasked with preventing and detecting insider trading and other financial crimes.

Before going in-house, Erin was a litigator in the white collar criminal and securities group at the law firm of Fried Frank for seven years, where she developed expertise in insider trading, financial crimes, and internal investigations relating to anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Erin serves on the Board of Directors of Urban Pathways, a non-profit that provides services to homeless New Yorkers. She also maintains an active pro bono practice representing low income women who are victims of domestic violence in family law proceedings in partnership with the non-profit Her Justice.

Erin holds a B.A. from Duke University in Political Science (magna cum laude) and a J.D. from Harvard Law School (cum laude).

Tami Horton

With over 20 years of experience, Tami Horton has a rich background as a legal and business partner and advisor focused on healthcare compliance, regulatory law, and ethics. Tami most recently served as the Chief Compliance Counsel and Privacy Officer at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), where she led the national compliance team.

Prior to joining CTCA, Tami served as General Counsel and Chief Privacy and Compliance Officer for Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), one of the largest independent physician practices in the country, where she was responsible for establishing the legal and compliance departments. In that role, Tami led IBJI’s legal team in its successful participation as an early awardee in the CMS Bundled payment for Care Improvement Initiative Program.

Previously, she was an associate at Mayer Brown in Chicago. Tami is certified in Healthcare Compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association and is a frequent speaker about compliance related topics and value-based payment models. Tami earned a J.D. with Honors from The University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s Magna Cum Laude and with Honors from the University of Michigan. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

As Associate General Counsel at Mission Lane, LLC, Cheryl serves as the lead transactional attorney and is responsible for negotiating, drafting and managing vendor contracts, joint ventures, equity investments and technology transactions and advising on strategic, legal and regulatory matters.

As principal at Legalsy PLC, Cheryl was Special Counsel at Blackbaud, Inc., BLKB, the world’s leader in providing cloud software and services for the social good community and Special Counsel, Privacy & Compliance at Greystar, the global leader in rental housing.
Cheryl previously worked in-house at Blackbaud as Deputy General Counsel, negotiating transactions, overseeing corporate governance, providing counsel and training to Human Resources, leading compliance efforts and managing the Sales contracts team.

Cheryl started her career at Capital One as a senior member of the commercial contracting team, where she developed best in class commercial agreements, policies and training on contracting and vendor management best practices training for Capital One University. Cheryl is a cum laude graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and received her JD from the University of Richmond School Of Law, where she served as the Executive Editor of the Richmond Law Review.
